Premium Linguistic Services is currently recruiting Oromo (Afaan Oromo) speakers in Durham and the surrounding area.

We currently have a high demand for face-to-face Oromo interpreting in Durham, making this a great opportunity to receive regular freelance interpreting assignments with Premium Linguistic Services.

Who are we looking for?

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Are fluent in Oromo (Afaan Oromo) and English
  • Live in Durham or within approximately 10 miles of Durham
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Are reliable, professional and able to maintain confidentiality

No formal interpreting qualification is required.

If you are fluent in both Oromo and English but do not have an interpreting qualification or previous professional interpreting experience, you are still welcome to apply. Our recruitment team can assess your language and interpreting suitability as part of our internal assessment process.

Main Duties

As a freelance interpreter, you will:

  • Provide face-to-face interpreting
  • Interpret accurately between service users and service providers
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information professionally
  • Maintain good timekeeping and reliability
  • Communicate effectively with both service users and professionals

  • Complete our assessment process where applicable
  • Be eligible to work on a self-employed basis in the UK
